| No longer is Accord a worthy but ultimately forgettable middle-market model. This is a sharply styled, well built and characterful car that does everything well. Honda has always fitted brilliant engines to its cars; the Accord is no exception. The petrol engines are very lively; the 2.0 litre is more than adequate, and the 2.4 delivers very brisk performance. And the manual gearboxes are slick and easy to use, enhancing the sporty feel. Probably the pick of the range though is the sophisticated modern 2.2 I-CTDi turbodiesel, which manages to be refined, frugal and quicker in acceleration terms than the 2.0 litre petrol. Inside, Accord has a high quality executive feel. Honda have used first class materials. The instrumentation is clear, all the controls are easy to use, and the driving position is almost perfect. The high level of standard equipment across the range helps to make any journey a pleasure. |
